“This animated, structured educational package should form the basis of language learning in all primary schools. Anyone who has worked with children knows what stimulates their interest, curiosity and imagination. Eiry Rees Thomas and her Flitlits make learning a joy.”
“We are deeply embroiled in ‘Flitlit Fever’ in the classroom – in fact, it has taken over our lives somewhat! We have read the stories, analysed the language, looked for poetic devices, written reviews, composed Flitlit anthems, designed book covers, written raps, de-constructed characters, examined story lines… and even tried creating new characters and plots! It has been a thoroughly enjoyable time that has truly harnessed the enthusiasm of the children.” – Teacher and Literacy Coordinator/ Pilot School.
“Beyond Brilliant”
“Hauntingly Beautiful”
“On first encountering the Land of Fussbut, Seldom See, I was overwhelmed. How do you begin to describe this incredible world? It is not like anything I have experienced before. Each word on the page is placed to make the whole experience so expansive and rich in detail…”
“The Flitlits are citizens of Fussbut, Seldom See: a magical place that can be visited any time, anywhere and which stays within your imagination forever.”
“It is the lyricism of the prose that knocks you off your feet and lulls you in like a siren’s song.”
“The employment of rhythm and rhyme creates a magical syncopation that builds anticipation as the stories are read aloud.”
“I truly am in awe of Eiry Rees Thomas. These books are classics and foster attention and a love for the written word. They open up discussions on many topics and encourages exploration and off screen play. The educational guides are truly outstanding and will be an asset in helping children grab on to that spark of imagination.
“This is what makes these stories so remarkable, since anything can happen in your very own room, as it does in Seldom See. Highly, highly Recommended!”
“We were fascinated by the level of lyricism, the depth of the characters and dimensions of the story. The usage of words with additional meanings provide further depth to the story. Children and parents will love the characters, whose well developed personalities enable children to develop their own intelligence too.”
“I hope that videos were filmed of these young learners. Differentiated instruction at its best. Retention Level: Highest.”
“The Flitlit tales feel like a portal to another world, one where lessons morph into fantastical adventures. They are tailor-made for curious minds, with characters who dance through the air like living constellations. Nearly every page holds a curriculum map in disguise, ready to be explored by educators and home-schoolers.
And did I mention that kids love them!?”
Supported Reading
“I became familiar with author Eiry Rees Thomas and her award-winning Flitlit stories & fables a few years ago. They are funny, entertaining, and educational. Recently I wrote a post about the Flitlit conception. Now, the author offers The Flitlit series on the Amazon and Ingram Spark platforms and I decided to share my personal impressions from reading The Flitlits as a first generation emigrant and as a grandparent of kids, raised in USA. This review is based on the features of all the Flitlit stories with quotes and examples from the book: “The Flitlits, Meet the Characters, Book 12, Coo Cassio, 8+ readers.” There are my thoughts: – The Flitlit vocabulary is rich: it is good for me, because it helps kids and me (remember, I am emigrant) to learn many new words; – I love the format of the stories: they are graphic novels with text & pictures, that allows students to quickly associate new words with their meaning; – The combination of pictures & text makes The Flitlits good for using in schools, for homeschooling and for blended learning; – The interplay between pictures & text make The Flitlits useful for kids with dyslexia, especially with the use of a dyslexia-friendly font.”
